TREASURE & SERVE CHRIST ALONE!

Compared to the joy and sufficiency found in the Glory & Grace of Jesus Christ, the world is a trifling bore..Psalm 121; Heb 12:2

Joshua 24:14-15 - “Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.  15 “If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

No playing around… not dabbling in the world and dabbling in Christianity.  You either fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth OR you don’t.

People with a deep and intimate longing for the things of the world give evidence that they are not redeemed of the Lord.

1 John 2:15-17 - Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.  17 The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

The word hostility in Greek is echthra (ekh-thrah)… it means hatred.

Now just for a moment consider everything you do in your daily routines and weekend activities.  Are there any of those things that you know are sinful, things you know God has called evil?  If you can think of some things that fall into those categories, and we likely all can, and we for those of us who name Christ as Lord… Why don’t you give them us?  If Christ is truly your Savior then He is precious to you.  So much so that no worldly pleasure is worth bringing Him dishonor.

What are you doing to put those things to death by the Spirit?  Because those sinful lusts are the roots of what causes troubles.  Or are you so blinded that you can no longer see that these things, whatever they are, are NOT more valuable than Jesus!

We can have good things in life and still not harlot ourselves to the world.  But when you set your heart on the world you become callous to Jesus Christ!  In the end you will conform to yourself, not the Word of God.  Those people, the Bible says, are enemies of God.

Matthew 6:24, Jesus said, - “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
